Deutsche Bank establishes NPL subsidiary in India

Deutsche Bank AG is further expanding its NPL activities and founding its own association in India. According to Institutional Money, referring to Bloomberg information, the largest German financial institutite saw the need to build up a separate subsidiary in the country for the acquisition and restructuring of non-performing loans. Because in India, foreign investors are not allowed to buy and sell NPLs from local banks.

India has the worst NPL ratio of the ten largest economies besides Italy. According to the Finanancial Soundness Indicator (FIS), the Indian financial institutions’ NPL ratio at the end of September 2018 was 10.3 percent. In Italy, the NPL ratio is currently 9.9 percent. Bloomberg
