{"id":16575,"date":"2018-11-22T11:05:44","date_gmt":"2018-11-22T10:05:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.debitos.com\/?p=16575"},"modified":"2018-12-03T09:43:41","modified_gmt":"2018-12-03T08:43:41","slug":"eu-and-ecb-fight-over-bad-loans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.debitos.com\/it\/news\/eu-and-ecb-fight-over-bad-loans\/","title":{"rendered":"EU and ECB fight over bad loans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\">On December 6, a new NPL regulation will be voted on in the Economic Committee of the European Parliament.<\/span> <span class=\"\">Currently, the ECB and the EU are still arguing over the rules banks must follow to solve the problem. <\/span><\/span><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\">In October 2017, the ECB presented new NPL guidelines to encourage European banks to reduce their bad loans more quickly.<\/span> <span class=\"\">However, these were considered too stringent by European Parliament President Antonio Tajani.<\/span> <span class=\"\">In addition, the EU stated that the ECB exceeded its competences since the European Parliament would be responsible to deal with the problem.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"gt-res-c\" class=\"g-unit\">\n<div id=\"gt-res-p\">\n<div id=\"gt-res-data\">\n<div id=\"gt-res-wrap\">\n<div id=\"gt-res-content\">\n<p id=\"gt-res-dir-ctr\" class=\"trans-verified-button-small\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\">In the meantime, the European Parliament is working with the EU Commission and <span class=\"ILfuVd\">he Economic and Financial Affairs Council<\/span> on new plans to tackle the NPL problem. The planned regulations, however, are less stringent: for two years, the banks do not need any provisions for NPLs. If the bad loans are unsecured, they must be completely removed in the third year. If the loan is secured by a real estate collateral, banks could have nine years to reduce their bad loans.
